James W. Partin

Born and raised in Elkin, North Carolina, James W. Partin — known to nearly everyone simply as “Jack” — has spent his life and legal career rooted in the same Yadkin Valley community that shaped him. For more than forty years, Jack has practiced law in the Elkin area, with a long-standing focus on Social Security Disability law.
Jack earned his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University in 1975 and his Juris Doctorate from Campbell University School of Law in 1979. That same year, he opened the Law Office of James Partin. Like many solo practitioners, he initially handled a broad range of cases for his community. In 1980, he began representing clients seeking Social Security Disability benefits, and since 1999 he has represented disabled persons exclusively in their pursuit of those benefits.
Jack was among the early members of NOSSCR (the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives), and he has spoken on Social Security Disability issues throughout his career. In 2007, he became part of the first group of North Carolina Board Certified Social Security Disability Specialists. The firm he founded grew over the years and, in 2009, became Partin, Patton & Brown, PLLC, continuing its work on behalf of disabled individuals and their families.
Social Security Disability claims can be daunting, often involving lengthy appeals and detailed medical and legal questions. Jack has built his practice around guiding clients through that process with patience, persistence, and care, treating each case with the seriousness it deserves.
Outside the office, Jack enjoys sailing around Lake Norman, racing cars with his grandson Justin, and spending time with his wife of more than forty years. He brings the same enthusiasm to his personal life that has marked his legal career.
