Joe Turrentine

Born and raised in Surry County, Joe isn’t just practicing law in North-West North Carolina—he’s serving his neighbors. Growing up in the shadow of the Blue Ridge, Joe learned early on that our community is built on hard work, integrity, and looking out for one another.
Spending his first 18 years locally, Joe then spent time studying and working around the U.S. and internationally. Despite his experiences away, it was an easy decision to return to the tri-county area to start a family, support the community that provided for him so well, and to protect the people who make this area home.
While some attorneys may have spent their careers focused solely on paperwork, Joe brings a broader perspective to the table. Before law, Joe was a special education teacher and as a licensed attorney for over ten years, Joe has developed a diverse skillset. With experience including everything from representing school districts and advocating for criminal defendants on the local court appointed list to investigating large international companies and combating money-laundering for a Swiss investment bank, Joe has mastered the art of high-stakes negotiation and courtroom advocacy. Joe looks at every case with a critical, detail-oriented eye, finding angles that “formulaic” firms often overlook and he is not intimidated by big-city lawyers or complex legal maneuvers.
In the personal injury context, Joe understands that everyone makes mistakes, but he also knows all too well that sometimes those mistakes can cause devastating and life-altering injuries to others. When this happens, the first person should be held accountable, and the other person should be made whole. Holding people accountable encourages responsible behavior and making the injured whole allows them to maximize their potential. Both result in a safer and healthier community.
Whether you are from the area or only passing through, you can rest assured that Joe will provide you with the local knowledge and deep experience to achieve results in your case. Joe is motivated to fight for his clients because he knows that success for his clients means success and improvement for the place he actually calls home.
